Our laser cutter has a maximum size of 36"x50"
The laser beam removes a small amount of material during cutting. This is about 1/64" with most materials. It is recommended to factor this in when creating a design.
While it is possible, we not not recommend cutting material thicker than 3/4" because it gets expensive and may not come out as nice looking.
Plastics
Acrylic (also known as Plexiglas, Lucite, PMMA)
Delrin (POM, Acetal)
Kapton tape (Polyimide)
Mylar (Polyester)
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol)
Polyethylene (PE) – Melts badly
Polypropylene (PP) – Melts somewhat like Styrene
Two-Tone Acrylic – Top color different than core material, usually for custom instrumentation panels, signs, and plaques.
Woods
MDF
Balsa
Basswood
Birch
Poplar
Red Oak
Cherry
Holly
...and more
Foams
Depron – Often used for RC planes
EPM
Gator – Foam core gets burned and eaten away compared to the top and bottom hard shell
Other
Leather
Suede
Felt
Hemp
Cotton
Magnetic Sheets
Papers
Chlorine Free Rubbers
Teflon (PTFE, Polytetrafluoroethylene)
Some materials produce toxic fumes when cut, and others are simply too hard to cut
Any material containing Chlorine
Polycarbonate (PC, Lexan)
PVC (Cintra)
Vinyl
Glass
Fiberglass
Printed Circuit Board (FR4 and others)
Carbon Fiber
High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
Metals
We do not cut metals, only engraving of Anodized Aluminum
For Vector cutting and engraving we accept PDF, EPS, or Adobe Illustrator file formats
For Raster engraving we accept JPEG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG file formats
If you are planning on Raster engraving we recommend the highest resolution possible. Typically this is 300 pixels per inch (PPI)
Vector Cut Line
Set to 0.001pt stroke width and color to Red (255,0,0). You cannot cover or mask a cut line – if there is a red line in your file the laser cutter will find it and cut that line, so make sure there are no hidden cut lines in there.
Vector Engraving Line
Set to 0.001pt stroke width and color to Blue (0,0,255). The laser head will follow the blue lines rather than etching back and forward across the sheet, so it can be a quicker and cheaper method for simple line art. Engraving lines are about 0.1mm - 0.2mm thick.
Vector or Raster Engraving Fill
Fill paths or areas with Pure Black (0,0,0)
